    JS Pampered Pillowcases

Pathways to People is pleased to announce a new endeavour this year. As we approach Mother’s Day, we would like to think of mothers and women who may be experiencing some difficulties in their life and how we can brighten their day. We are going to host a Mother’s Day Pampered Pillowcase project. Each homeroom has two beautiful pillowcases to collect lovely items. There is a list displayed outside of each classroom for parents and students to sign up. We ask each student to bring in an item that will be placed in these pillowcases and these gifts will be donated to the Women’s Centre of York Region and Belinda’s Place.

Each class has a list of items that are being collected in their classrooms. Students may sign up for an item in class.  Collection of these items will take place between Friday, April 15 and Monday, May 2. As always, thank you for your support of this new project.

Land Acknowledgment

The Country Day School wishes to recognize and acknowledge the land on which the school operates. Our nearest Indigenous Nations are now the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and the Chippewas of Georgina Island. The Dish with One Spoon Wampum covenant is often cited as an example of the shared responsibility for caring for these lands among the Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples who would call these their traditional territories. CDS respects the relationship with these lands and recognizes that our connection to this land can be strengthened by our continued relationship with all First Nations, by acknowledging our shared responsibility to respect and care for the land and waters for future generations.
