2015-16 Student Council President

The Student Council President is part of the School Leadership Team, and is one of the most significant leadership roles a student can assume at CDS. This position requires them to facilitate most student events, serve as a role model for their peers and a spokesperson for the study body.
To be chosen as President, a student not only needs to have demonstrated significant engagement in school life over the course of their time in the School, but a dedication to their academics and traits such as integrity and purpose.

To apply, students must submit a resume and cover letter, and complete an online profile that is posted for all Senior School students to see. The process also includes an interview conducted by the current Student Council President, the Director of Senior School and the Director of Student Life.

Once these steps are complete, a vote is done in the Middle and Senior Schools for all students and faculty members. All applications are equally weighted, and a candidate is chosen based on their success in all three categories.

Amongst a very strong group of candidates, Brittney Nichols emerged as our leader for the 2015-2016 school year!

Brittney has been an active participant in student life as a Grade Representative and most recently, a Grade 11 member of Student Council this year. She is also a three-term athlete as a member of CDS basketball, volleyball and rugby teams.

Congratulations Brittney!

Land Acknowledgment

The Country Day School wishes to recognize and acknowledge the land on which the school operates. Our nearest Indigenous Nations are now the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and the Chippewas of Georgina Island. The Dish with One Spoon Wampum covenant is often cited as an example of the shared responsibility for caring for these lands among the Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples who would call these their traditional territories. CDS respects the relationship with these lands and recognizes that our connection to this land can be strengthened by our continued relationship with all First Nations, by acknowledging our shared responsibility to respect and care for the land and waters for future generations.
