Mr. Dave Harvey

Director of Academics: Middle and Senior Schools
Quickly approaching the end of his second decade in education, Dave Harvey has taught numerous subject areas including Philosophy, Ancient and Modern History, Classical Studies, Sociology and, of course, English to which he is passionately devoted, having served for twelve years as an English Department Head in the public and independent school systems.
He brings to CDS a wealth of experience in the areas of curriculum and assessment which were also the focus of his Masters Degree. He has applied his expertise in a number of contexts: reviewing texts and curricular documents for the Ministry of Education, taking on leadership roles in Literacy and Professional Learning Programmes, and working as a curriculum consultant in Canada and abroad with the Canadian International Development Agency. A strong advocate of educational travel, he has spent over ten years writing, teaching, and administering experiential learning programs for Canadian youth throughout Europe. His latest, and perhaps most challenging, task is raising four young children. He once considered the world his classroom; today, it is more frequently his backyard. Mr. Harvey was appointed as Director of Academics, Middle and Senior Schools in September 2012.

Land Acknowledgment

CDS wishes to recognize and acknowledge the land on which the school operates. For thousands of years, these have been the traditional lands of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation. We also recognize the traditional territory of the Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabe and the Haudenosaunee peoples who also shared this land.  CDS respects the relationship with these lands and recognizes that our connection can be strengthened by our continued relationship with all First Nations, by acknowledging our shared responsibility to respect and care for these lands and waters for future generations.
