Middle and Senior School Councils Boost Community Spirit

On Friday, November 25th, both the Middle and Senior School Student Councils planned end-of-day events to rally some spirit and bring together their respective school communities.

In the Middle School, the Council planned for some Staff vs. Student games; the MS gym was full of cheers as students battled their teachers in basketball and soccer baseball. The afternoon ended with a Gr. 7 vs. Gr. 8 dodgeball game that was not long enough to determine a clear champion.

In the Senior School, students and staff boarded buses to the King City Arena for an afternoon on the ice! For the first half, everyone enjoyed a free skate (or a hot chocolate and a board game!). The second half was a battle between CDS White and CDS Blue, two combined staff student teams. Though CDS Blue came out on top, all would agree it included a lot of laughs and a lot of chirps!

We’re so fortunate to be part of such a wonderful and caring community. We enjoy spending time together and value the down-time these student driven opportunities provide. We look forward to more of these events in the New Year.

Many thanks to Middle School organizers, Chloe McKay, Ainsley Johnston and Sascha Loew, and Senior School organizers, Gwyneth MacFarlane and Jose Torrealba for helping to make this all possible!

Land Acknowledgment

CDS wishes to recognize and acknowledge the land on which the school operates. For thousands of years, these have been the traditional lands of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation. We also recognize the traditional territory of the Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabe and the Haudenosaunee peoples who also shared this land.  CDS respects the relationship with these lands and recognizes that our connection can be strengthened by our continued relationship with all First Nations, by acknowledging our shared responsibility to respect and care for these lands and waters for future generations.
