Debating Team Competes at Queen's

Kerstin Wyndham-West
More than 250 students competed in the Annual Queen’s University Debating Tournament in Kingston this past weekend. The performances varied stylistically from other tournaments CDS students typically participate in, as these focused on rapid-fire, content-heavy speeches.

Students also attended debate workshops as part of the experience. Ten CDS students participated in the tournament: Georgie Tsiolis (9), Jack McDonald (9), Maddy Ganzhorn (9), Maeve Tebbutt (10), Olivia Railton (12), Billy Tsiolis (9), Wren Bahen (12), Abilene Jull (8), Anna Croxon (9), Mark Carpenter (12).

Although none of our students made it to the Top 8, all of them performed well, and it was a wonderful skill building experience.

Thanks to Ms. Sagalina Doré for chaperoning this weekend.

Land Acknowledgment

CDS wishes to recognize and acknowledge the land on which the school operates. For thousands of years, these have been the traditional lands of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation. We also recognize the traditional territory of the Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabe and the Haudenosaunee peoples who also shared this land.  CDS respects the relationship with these lands and recognizes that our connection can be strengthened by our continued relationship with all First Nations, by acknowledging our shared responsibility to respect and care for these lands and waters for future generations.
