2018 Parent & Student Survey Results

John Liggett
Last spring, we conducted two online surveys – one among CDS Parents and one among CDS Students in Grades 6-12. Attached are highlights from both surveys, as well as some areas in need of improvement and attention, and recent school initiatives either underway or already developed to address these issues.
Earlier this fall, I shared results of the student survey with our Middle and Senior School students during morning assemblies. In fact, as a result of these findings, a Grade 11 Focus Group was struck to discuss and prioritize areas of improvement, including practice tests and workload distribution. Read the student-authored story here.

Finally, on pages 9 and 10 we share some highlights from our Employee and Alumnisurvey results. This was the first time we’ve surveyed CDS Alumni in our 46-year history.

Thank you to all who took the time to complete our 2018 Parent Survey. While we are pleased that the overall satisfaction of both our parents and students is above average across the measured schools (and slightly improved from the 2014 survey), we recognize the importance of pushing forward in an effort to continue to improve and maintain high standards.

We will use both surveys as we continue to fulfill the objectives set out in the 2016-2021 Strategic Plan – Envisioning Our Future – for the next three years, and will keep you informed of this process.
