CDS To Host One Week of Debate Camp: June 17-22

This year, we are excited to announce an amazing opportunity for students in Grades 5-10 to take part in Debate Camp 2019Canada’s public speaking and debating camp at CDS from June 17-22, 2019. This prestigious program, with space for 40 students, is offered for one week only. The directors of the camp are experts in their field, and students work in small groups with highly experienced counsellors.
This day camp, which runs from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM Monday-Friday, will offer students multi-level instruction in public speaking, debating and Model UN skills. Debate Camp has been running for 17 years, and includes among its alumni former CDS student and World Individual Public Speaking and Debating Champion, Natalie Ganzhorn ’16, who attended the camp to hone her skills while in Middle School.

According to CDS’ Debating Coach, Kerstin Wyndham-West, “This camp offers students an incredible overview of a variety of speaking disciplines, and I encourage students who wish to improve their skills to take advantage of this amazing opportunity.”

Debate Camp will be run entirely separate from the seventh season of CDS Summer Camp, however, you can find a link to register on the CDS Summer Camp website, which opened its registration on Monday of this week, or by clicking here: www.debatecamp.com/king-city.

Land Acknowledgment

CDS wishes to recognize and acknowledge the land on which the school operates. For thousands of years, these have been the traditional lands of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation. We also recognize the traditional territory of the Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabe and the Haudenosaunee peoples who also shared this land.  CDS respects the relationship with these lands and recognizes that our connection can be strengthened by our continued relationship with all First Nations, by acknowledging our shared responsibility to respect and care for these lands and waters for future generations.
