Remembrance Day at The Country Day School has always been a time where the entire Junior School and the entire Middle/Senior School would gather in the Paul C. Duckett Theatre to pay respect to our fallen soldiers and honour the peacekeeping efforts of today.
Each year we have celebrated slightly differently, usually integrating performances and elements from our Drama, Music and Social Science Departments, who pour a great deal of thought and creativity into the act of remembering those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.
Nothing could keep us away from this annual tradition, not even a global pandemic.
While today was a first for The Country Day School in that we were not able to celebrate and honour our Veterans while physically together, instead, we gathered virtually. On the eleventh hour, our school came together “virtually” as we watched both the Junior School and Middle/Senior School video celebrations that some of our students, faculty and staff spent hours thoughtfully preparing.
If you have not already viewed these, we encourage you to do so. As Mrs. Wildberger says in her video, “In our hearts, we will remain focussed on two little words: hope and peace.
