Raising the Roof!

Although our community is currently not able to come onto campus to witness it firsthand, over the holiday break our construction crew began the process of raising the roof in the 1883 one-room schoolhouse!
As you may recall, one of the features of the Building Magic campaign is the creation of an inspirational new entrance combined with a signature space showcasing our Eversley Schoolhouse. Once the project is complete, this historic gem, which houses our Junior School Library, will be completely ensconced in the new Hall. In order to achieve optimal natural light, we are essentially removing the southeast side of the roof to create an architectural design that will truly celebrate this King landmark and heart of the Junior School.

Also over the holidays, one of our Co-founders and donors to this campaign, Mr. Edmond G. Eberts, received his ceremonial groundbreaking shovel delivered to his home in Calgary. He sent us this photo with the tagline: Shovels Up!

In due course, we will share more photos from our virtual groundbreaking held last October. We are getting so close to achieving our $7 million fundraising goal and would like to thank all of our families who have donated to the Building Magic campaign thus far.

Land Acknowledgment

CDS wishes to recognize and acknowledge the land on which the school operates. For thousands of years, these have been the traditional lands of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation. We also recognize the traditional territory of the Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabe and the Haudenosaunee peoples who also shared this land.  CDS respects the relationship with these lands and recognizes that our connection can be strengthened by our continued relationship with all First Nations, by acknowledging our shared responsibility to respect and care for these lands and waters for future generations.
