There will be a special music session from 12:00 pm until 1:30 pm on Orientation Day for all new CDS music students from Grades 5-8 who have NO PREVIOUS experience on a band instrument. This session will introduce your child to the CDS Music Program, including the instrument rental process and the band instruments. We will assist your child in choosing an instrument to which s/he is best suited. The instruments that we study at school include: flute, oboe, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, French horn, trombone, baritone and tuba.

All Grade 9 parents are invited to attend an information meeting for the Timberlane Trip on Thu.Sep.7, 2017 at 5PM in room A6 (in the PAC). Details of the trip will be provided and a chance to ask any questions you might have about the trip.

In the spirit of TIFF, CDS will be hosting a special screening of Screenagers: Growing Up in the Digital Age on Wednesday, September 13 at 7:00 pm in the Performing Arts Centre. This widely acclaimed 68-minute documentary is about the impact of the digital age on children and how to help them minimize harmful effects and find balance.
This evening is scheduled for Thursday, September 14th from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. If you are the parent of a student in Grades JK - 6, you are invited to join us. This will be an opportunity to attend presentation(s) in your child(ren)’s homeroom(s).

On Sunday, September 24, The Country Day School will host the third annual Gianni Giro Bike for Heart, a 5km, 45km or 90km ride championed by a current CDS family, the LiVolsis. This evening is scheduled for Tuesday, September 26th from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. If you are the parent of a student in Grade 9 through 12, you are invited to join us. This will be an opportunity to hear from the Directors, and meet with the Heads of Department and teachers of your children. There will be a variety of presentations and activities for you to create a window into some of the exciting things that happen in your child’s day.
This evening is scheduled for Thursday, September 28th at 7:00 p.m. Grade 12 students and their parents are expected to attend and Grade 11 students and their parents are invited to attend, as well. This will be an opportunity to hear from the Director of Admission and University Placement and will help to inform and prepare students and their parents for the transition to university.
