Google Apps for Education Professional Development

All School - June 21-22, 2016
With the amazing opportunity to create a custom summit to specifically meet the needs of the faculty of The Country Day School, June 2016 brought the Google Apps for Education Summit to CDS.

Hosting this amazing event, we were able to offer two full days of Professional Development in the advancement of teaching and learning, presented on our very own campus with the leadership and support of visionary educators from EdTechTeam, including Michelle Armstrong, Sandra Chow, Jeffrey Humphries and Bradley Lands. Over the course of the conference, we all came together as a committed community of learners focussing on key concepts and strategies, with topics such as Assessment, Collaboration, Individualization, Differentiation, Disruption, Design Thinking, Student Agency, Portfolio, Inspiring Spaces and Digital Citizenship.

At CDS, our vision of technology is one balance, using technology when and how it makes sense in teaching and learning. The summit provided faculty the opportunity to focus our teaching based on the needs of our students. We collaborated and discussed integration and the student experience, how to be sensitive to the needs of each student, and ways to enable learning and equip students for life.

Land Acknowledgment

The Country Day School wishes to recognize and acknowledge the land on which the school operates. Our nearest Indigenous Nations are now the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and the Chippewas of Georgina Island. The Dish with One Spoon Wampum covenant is often cited as an example of the shared responsibility for caring for these lands among the Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples who would call these their traditional territories. CDS respects the relationship with these lands and recognizes that our connection to this land can be strengthened by our continued relationship with all First Nations, by acknowledging our shared responsibility to respect and care for the land and waters for future generations.
