Build and Engage Our Community

In an effort to build and engage our community, the School is developing a partnership with Habitat for Humanity both to do projects locally (GTA) and nationally (Yukon).

On Saturday, November 5th from 8:00 am – 4:00 pm, approximately 20 interested CDS students and faculty will participate in a building project that consists of 50 homes in Scarborough for local families in need.

In addition, half of the funds raised from this year’s On The Catwalk Charity Fashion Show (coming December 1st) will go to Habitat for Humanity GTA, and the other half will support the June 2017 service trip to the Yukon where the national build will be taking place.

Land Acknowledgment

The Country Day School wishes to recognize and acknowledge the land on which the school operates. Our nearest Indigenous Nations are now the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and the Chippewas of Georgina Island. The Dish with One Spoon Wampum covenant is often cited as an example of the shared responsibility for caring for these lands among the Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples who would call these their traditional territories. CDS respects the relationship with these lands and recognizes that our connection to this land can be strengthened by our continued relationship with all First Nations, by acknowledging our shared responsibility to respect and care for the land and waters for future generations.
