Marilyn Tucknott M.A. is an internationally recognized speaker, consultant and author. She has written resources for teachers on developing mentally healthy schools and practical solutions to managing challenging behaviour. Her Mental Wealth Journals have been used by children world-wide and she has recently launched The Feel Better Place, an online resource for schools that provides coaching and therapeutic insight into solutions for children.

She regularly speaks at national conferences to professionals and parents and advises educational settings on their direction of travel. ‘Marilyn communicates with passion and clarity’ says Prof Barry Carpenter C.B.E.
Marilyn’s thinking is constantly challenged by her 8 year old grand-daughter who asks some very hard questions! www.marilyntucknott.com.

This presentation is about how we can support the mental wellness of our children. By drawing upon information from psychology and neuro-science, parents and carers will better understanding what children worry about, how this shows in their behaviour and what we can all do to enable children to flourish in this precious time that we call childhood.

The presentation will specifically address: What is mental well-being and how do you know if your child has it? What does mental health vulnerability look like and what would you see if your child was under pressure? What can you do to build resilience? Please note, this presentation is not about the 2% of young people who will need access to specialist services. It is about universal mental health needs and the part we can all play in reversing the current trend.

This one hour presentation will be followed by questions from the floor.

Land Acknowledgment

CDS wishes to recognize and acknowledge the land on which the school operates. For thousands of years, these have been the traditional lands of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation. We also recognize the traditional territory of the Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabe and the Haudenosaunee peoples who also shared this land.  CDS respects the relationship with these lands and recognizes that our connection can be strengthened by our continued relationship with all First Nations, by acknowledging our shared responsibility to respect and care for these lands and waters for future generations.
