How a Love of Sports Launched #DrinkThePink

Excerpt from Spring 2015 issue of The Link:

How does a Political Science degree prepare you to become Co-founder and President of the healthiest and safest sports nutritional product on the market? Not to mention equip you with the tools to brilliantly market this underdog against the industry giants – Gatorade and Powerade.

“I can give a lot more credit to CDS than my post-secondary education,” says John Celenza ’01, Co-founder and President of BioSteel Sports. “I was always thinking about sports, playing sports, planning fantasy sports or anything sports related – that was my passion – I really fostered it at CDS.”

John spent 12 years doing what he loved at CDS, including playing soccer, basketball and baseball. That is where he also met his best friend since Grade 3, Mike Cammalleri ’99.

Land Acknowledgment

The Country Day School wishes to recognize and acknowledge the land on which the school operates. Our nearest Indigenous Nations are now the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and the Chippewas of Georgina Island. The Dish with One Spoon Wampum covenant is often cited as an example of the shared responsibility for caring for these lands among the Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples who would call these their traditional territories. CDS respects the relationship with these lands and recognizes that our connection to this land can be strengthened by our continued relationship with all First Nations, by acknowledging our shared responsibility to respect and care for the land and waters for future generations.
