Emma Colucci '03

In Pursuit of Social Good

Excerpt from Spring 2016 issue of The Link:

Emma Colucci '03 has held a passion for community development and a love for sports most of her life. After spending 12 years as a ‘Lifer’ at CDS, Emma pursued a BA in Communications & Sociology at Concordia University, where she also played four years on the Women’s Varsity Soccer team.

She then went on to earn a Master’s through a joint program between Ryerson and York Universities, writing her thesis on sport as a tool for development and conducting her research in South Africa. After graduating, Emma worked briefly as an intern for a small development agency, Athletes for Africa, taught English in Thailand, and worked on the 2011 Census for Statistics Canada.

This combination of life experiences led her to the global organization Right To Play in 2011.

Land Acknowledgment

CDS wishes to recognize and acknowledge the land on which the school operates. For thousands of years, these have been the traditional lands of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation. We also recognize the traditional territory of the Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabe and the Haudenosaunee peoples who also shared this land.  CDS respects the relationship with these lands and recognizes that our connection can be strengthened by our continued relationship with all First Nations, by acknowledging our shared responsibility to respect and care for these lands and waters for future generations.
