Reflections of the Daughters of the First Headmaster (part 2)

Excerpt from Spring 2014 issue of The Link:

I started in Grade 4 in 1972, the first year the School opened. I remember my pride in being able to help paint the original girl’s bathroom in the old schoolhouse in August of that year. I was there until 1976 and skipped Grade 7. I hope that wasn’t because they wanted to get rid of me sooner!

What was it like having dad as Headmaster? Well, I remember being proud because there was a pile of stuff he had to do, and he loved it and did it all well. I also giggled at the fact that he would be at his desk one minute, and then driving the bus the next, or helping my grandmother teach music. My father had a beautiful voice and his voice was very strong, which was great in choirs and a bit creepy when you were in trouble. Mostly he was a very  positive participant who added enthusiasm to just about everything the  School did.

Land Acknowledgment

CDS wishes to recognize and acknowledge the land on which the school operates. For thousands of years, these have been the traditional lands of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation. We also recognize the traditional territory of the Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabe and the Haudenosaunee peoples who also shared this land.  CDS respects the relationship with these lands and recognizes that our connection can be strengthened by our continued relationship with all First Nations, by acknowledging our shared responsibility to respect and care for these lands and waters for future generations.
