CDS Cyclones Impress at Robotics Tournament
On Saturday, February 11th, three CDS Robotics teams travelled to St. Michael’s College School in Toronto to compete in our second and final VEX tournament of the year. Out of a substantial number of competitors from schools across the GTA, the CDS Cyclones are proud of our impressive standings!
This year’s game, titled Starstruck, split the playing field into two halves with a fence running through the middle. On each side were two robots from different schools allied together to beat their opponents in launching as many stars and cubes onto the other side as possible during the 15 seconds of autonomous period (in which the robot must be programmed to move without a driver) and 105 exhilarating seconds of cooperative driving.
Team A (Jason Davies, Jeremy Garbe, Carter Moore, Ian Rokas, Henry Simmonds, and Ian Sokullu) placed 22nd, Team B (Kyra Bates, Andrew Chettleburgh, Julia Garbe and Charley McCann) placed 31st, and Team C (Adrian Dinoiu, Noah Fodor, Mathew Hartman, Matthew Roberts and Daniel Shaw) placed 47th.
As always in the whimsical realm of robotics, all teams had fun and learned invaluable skills such as leadership, collaboration, and entrepreneurial spirit - not to mention how to build a robot! As the VEX season draws to a close, we look forward to what the new FRC season will bring.

Land Acknowledgment
The Country Day School wishes to recognize and acknowledge the land on which the school operates. Our nearest Indigenous Nations are now the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and the Chippewas of Georgina Island.
