Continuing the Conversation: The New MS/SS Report Card

Over the next few years, CDS will further its long range plan commitment to develop stronger mechanisms of communication regarding student achievement and individual growth.

As an initial step, we have modified the Middle and Senior Schools’ March Report. Unlike past iterations which included advisor comments, assessment of learning skills and a grade, the new report will also include written subject comments. These concise and to-the-point anecdotal observations will focus on continuing the conversation on how student learning has developed since the last report in December and the next steps for learning success in Term 3.

We know that timely and effective feedback is essential to the learning process, and we are confident that this modification will help our students in their efforts to reach their academic goals for the final term.

Land Acknowledgment

The Country Day School wishes to recognize and acknowledge the land on which the school operates. Our nearest Indigenous Nations are now the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and the Chippewas of Georgina Island. The Dish with One Spoon Wampum covenant is often cited as an example of the shared responsibility for caring for these lands among the Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples who would call these their traditional territories. CDS respects the relationship with these lands and recognizes that our connection to this land can be strengthened by our continued relationship with all First Nations, by acknowledging our shared responsibility to respect and care for the land and waters for future generations.
