The Canada Project

The Canada Project took place on Monday and Tuesday this week and was CDS' way of recognizing Canada’s 150th birthday. The timing of the Project was intentional to culminate with our Senior School production of Ahead by a Century.

All of CDS took part in moments that focused our attention on Canada. Junior School students learned the origin and the first rules of the game of basketball, created their own 'nature posters' and sang Canadian songs. Middle and Senior School students participated in road hockey, curling (with bean bags!), traditional Quebec Folk DancingCanadian trivia contests and read excerpts from Canadian authors.

Our students dressed in red and white and were immersed in Canadian experiences in their classes, co-curriculars and even lunch, with each experience, in its own way, bringing Canada to the forefront.

Land Acknowledgment

CDS wishes to recognize and acknowledge the land on which the school operates. For thousands of years, these have been the traditional lands of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation. We also recognize the traditional territory of the Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabe and the Haudenosaunee peoples who also shared this land.  CDS respects the relationship with these lands and recognizes that our connection can be strengthened by our continued relationship with all First Nations, by acknowledging our shared responsibility to respect and care for these lands and waters for future generations.
