Ahead by a Century featured on CBC

At the end of this summer, the CBC released its short documentary film about the making of Ahead by a Century, last season’s acclaimed Senior School Theatrical Production at CDS. Inspired by the words and music of Gord Downie and The Tragically Hip, this original production was written and created by the students and directing faculty and thoughtfully addressed the haunting legacy of Canada’s residential school system.

If you haven’t had the opportunity to do so, we invite you to watch the documentary and share it with friends and family by clicking on this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VFsOeOxDYH0

Stay tuned for this year’s fundraising initiatives accompanying the Senior School production of In the Heights (by the creator of the Broadway hit Hamilton - Lin-Manuel Miranda), as we continue to make the world a better place!

Land Acknowledgment

The Country Day School wishes to recognize and acknowledge the land on which the school operates. Our nearest Indigenous Nations are now the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and the Chippewas of Georgina Island. The Dish with One Spoon Wampum covenant is often cited as an example of the shared responsibility for caring for these lands among the Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples who would call these their traditional territories. CDS respects the relationship with these lands and recognizes that our connection to this land can be strengthened by our continued relationship with all First Nations, by acknowledging our shared responsibility to respect and care for the land and waters for future generations.
