CDS is Certified as a Gold Ontario EcoSchool

Stephanie Collins
Last year, the CDS Green Committee underwent the Ontario Ecoschools certification process. This application includes a school-wide audit of environmental practices and curriculum, as well as a site visit from an Ontario EcoSchools representative.  We are happy to announce that CDS has been certified as a Gold Ontario EcoSchool for the third time.

This accreditation is no small feat, and it speaks to the commitment of everyone in the community to make CDS green. We were proud to show off the many amazing environmental projects and stewardship initiatives that are happening at CDS in and out of the classroom. We are looking forward to building on our achievements in all areas of the School and continuing our quest to keep CDS green far into the future

Land Acknowledgment

The Country Day School wishes to recognize and acknowledge the land on which the school operates. Our nearest Indigenous Nations are now the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and the Chippewas of Georgina Island. The Dish with One Spoon Wampum covenant is often cited as an example of the shared responsibility for caring for these lands among the Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples who would call these their traditional territories. CDS respects the relationship with these lands and recognizes that our connection to this land can be strengthened by our continued relationship with all First Nations, by acknowledging our shared responsibility to respect and care for the land and waters for future generations.
