Grade 8 Trip to Quebec

From January 30th to February 2nd, the Grade 8s embarked on our annual adventure to Quebec City.

During those busy four days, we experienced first-hand the rich history of Quebec, learning about French explorers who shaped the elegant city that we know today. We visited many exhibits and workshops that gave the students knowledge that made us enjoy the city even more. It gave all of the students a chance to practice their French and to communicate with the citizens of Quebec in their native language.

On top of all the learning experiences we were exposed to, the Grade 8s also engaged in winter outdoor activities such as dog sledding and snowshoeing, which gave us a deeper understanding of many Quebec traditions. We also took advantage of the beautiful mountains, as we filled our days with exciting activities like skiing, snowboarding and tubing. All the students had many enjoyable moments on the trip. In between the activities, students also enjoyed the amazing cuisine of Quebec with poutine, maple syrup and of course Beaver Tails.

All in all, the Grade 8 trip to Quebec was an lively experience that the students will all remember, a trip full of the culture and art of Canada, and four days full of happy memories.

Land Acknowledgment

The Country Day School wishes to recognize and acknowledge the land on which the school operates. Our nearest Indigenous Nations are now the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and the Chippewas of Georgina Island. The Dish with One Spoon Wampum covenant is often cited as an example of the shared responsibility for caring for these lands among the Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples who would call these their traditional territories. CDS respects the relationship with these lands and recognizes that our connection to this land can be strengthened by our continued relationship with all First Nations, by acknowledging our shared responsibility to respect and care for the land and waters for future generations.
