CDS Student Artwork on Display at King Museum

Close to 100 examples of local student artwork representing the three secondary schools in King are on display for the month of March at the King Heritage and Cultural Centre. The show opened on March 1 with a reception sponsored by the Arts Society King (ASK) and features the work of 20 CDS students.

“The ASK student art show is a fantastic opportunity for our students to publicly exhibit their work,” said Heather Castellan, CDS Head of the Visual Arts. “As artists, having the ability and willingness of a gallery to showcase our work helps us to connect with the larger community outside our doors.”

As well, it provides the graduates with an opportunity to witness and see how a gallery show comes together in preparation for their GradX show in May.”

The 20 pieces that were selected from the CDS art classes offer a representative window into what our Senior School students’ capabilities really are. If you haven’t already done so, we encourage you to stop by the King Township Museum located at 2920 King Road, just east of Jane Street, to see this exhibit over March Break. They are open weekdays from 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Land Acknowledgment

CDS wishes to recognize and acknowledge the land on which the school operates. For thousands of years, these have been the traditional lands of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation. We also recognize the traditional territory of the Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabe and the Haudenosaunee peoples who also shared this land.  CDS respects the relationship with these lands and recognizes that our connection can be strengthened by our continued relationship with all First Nations, by acknowledging our shared responsibility to respect and care for these lands and waters for future generations.
