Introducing Our New Faculty Members

There are a lot of faculty and staff updates to share with you this year, including 10 new faculty members, summer wedding announcements and internal staffing changes. Details are included in the attached letter from Head of School John Liggett.
In particular, we would like to welcome our new faculty members as follows. Ms. Kathleen Griffin is a returning faculty member having taught at CDS from 2006-2009, and now joins the Middle and Senior School Science department.

Our two new members of the Outdoor Education team, Ms. Anne Wellnhofer (Middle/Senior) and Mr. Peter Johnson (Junior School), both bring a wealth of experience in outdoor education (45 years collectively) to The Country Day School. As well, Mr. Cameron Baldassarra, our new Grade 6 teacher, has a considerable amount of experience in outdoor education instruction too.

Ms. Hillary Hall is our new Junior School Librarian and we have two new Associate Teachers to introduce: Ms. Lauren Hunt will be teaching in the Middle and Senior Schools and Miss Joanna Minor will be in the Junior School.

Ms. Christelle Ah Sen will be teaching in the Middle and Senior School Modern Language department (covering for Hannah Fransen) and Ms. Kristen Mack joins the Senior School Student Services Centre as a Learning Strategist (covering for Sara Purdy).

Finally, we are thrilled to welcome another CDS Alumna, Ms. Kerrigan Brown from the Class of 2012, who will be overseeing our Before and After Care Program.

Welcome to all!

Land Acknowledgment

The Country Day School wishes to recognize and acknowledge the land on which the school operates. Our nearest Indigenous Nations are now the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and the Chippewas of Georgina Island. The Dish with One Spoon Wampum covenant is often cited as an example of the shared responsibility for caring for these lands among the Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples who would call these their traditional territories. CDS respects the relationship with these lands and recognizes that our connection to this land can be strengthened by our continued relationship with all First Nations, by acknowledging our shared responsibility to respect and care for the land and waters for future generations.
