CDS Debating Finalist at Worlds

Congratulations to Eliza Pasha '22 on being a finalist in the 2020 World Individual Debating and Public Speaking Championships - an incredible feat for a student who is just entering Grade 11.
This year's World Championships were held virtually over the last two weeks of August.

In the Interpretive Reading finals held on Sunday, August 30th, Eliza presented a moving passage from the young adult novel, If I Stay, where a 17-year-old Mia describes the scene of a car crash involving her family and ends with her questioning her own mortality.

This year, 64 students from 10 countries participated in the WIDSPC online tournament that was to be held in Shanghai last April. Unfortunately, Anna Croxon '20, the reigning World Champion, was unable to compete due to scheduling conflicts.

Land Acknowledgment

CDS wishes to recognize and acknowledge the land on which the school operates. For thousands of years, these have been the traditional lands of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation. We also recognize the traditional territory of the Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabe and the Haudenosaunee peoples who also shared this land.  CDS respects the relationship with these lands and recognizes that our connection can be strengthened by our continued relationship with all First Nations, by acknowledging our shared responsibility to respect and care for these lands and waters for future generations.
