Please join us for the next Parent Association Speaker Series Zoom webinar on Monday, February 22 at 10AM. This month's topic is Diversity & Inclusion: Let's Have a Conversation featuring Tamara Estabrooks.
Tamara is a CDS Parent and Pediatric Speech-Language Pathologist, in private practice in King City, ON. A graduate of the University of Western Ontario, she has worked for over 20 years with children in both public and private school settings.
A former instructor in the Communicative Disorder’s Assistant’s program at Georgian College, she has recently served as a Clinical Facilitator at the University of Toronto. In June 2020, Tamara was a requested panelist for the “BLM, BIPOC, and SLP in AAC” at the University of Western Ontario.
This incredible experience inspired Tamara to host a discussion panel series: “Diversity & Inclusion in Speech Language Pathology: Where we've come. Where we are. Where we need to be.” Through a speaker series, this endeavor provided a safe forum for parents, children and professionals to share personal experiences to foster the future development of therapy materials and resources for within the education system and the field of Speech and Language Pathology.
Tamara's passion for words is also reflected in her children's book, “Perfectly Peach”, which has been adapted to develop curricular in the Catholic, private and public schools within the GTA.
Tamara is a proud graduate of the Second City Training Centre Improvisation and enjoys ballroom dancing. Her passion for quippy wordplay is reflected in her avid interest in comedy, theatre, puns and cryptic crossword puzzles. As a self-proclaimed Afro-Indian Maritimer, Tamara is the proud mother of tween daughters, and a feisty Boston Terrier, named Frisbee. She enjoys travel with her adventurous husband, and has added another check off her bucket list completing her first RV trip last summer with her reluctant family!
Tamara looks forward to supporting her community as an advocate for Diversity & Inclusion in S-LP services and education.
