Grade 6s Launch into Robotics Unit

Sully Noccey '27 & Mackenzie Stewart '27
Exciting News! This week, Grade 6 students began to build robots for their robotics project. We used Lego Mindstorms Kits and followed instructions really closely so that the bots came together the way that they should.
We discovered that following instructions carefully and precisely is important. If we messed up even just the sizes of the pieces, the bots wouldn’t work the way they were supposed to. We thought it was really fun because we had never put together a robot before and it felt like we accomplished a lot once we finished and it was working.

The Grade 6s really learned the importance of paying attention to details and how even though we were building separately, we could rely on each other to ask questions and collaborate on problems if we got stuck. We are so excited to get to move from being engineers to programmers. Stay tuned for more updates!

Land Acknowledgment

The Country Day School wishes to recognize and acknowledge the land on which the school operates. Our nearest Indigenous Nations are now the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and the Chippewas of Georgina Island. The Dish with One Spoon Wampum covenant is often cited as an example of the shared responsibility for caring for these lands among the Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples who would call these their traditional territories. CDS respects the relationship with these lands and recognizes that our connection to this land can be strengthened by our continued relationship with all First Nations, by acknowledging our shared responsibility to respect and care for the land and waters for future generations.
