Author Patricia Storms Speaks to Grade 12 Writer's Craft

Patricia Storms, a children's book author and illustrator, presented virtually to Ms. Hudson's Grade 12 Writer's Craft class this week.
This was Patricia's fourth time working with the students who take this course, and this year's talk once again resonated with the entire class.

Patricia spoke about about her experiences working for Chirp and The New Yorker, and about the writing and editing process for picture books. The class was surprised to see how many iterations of book covers illustrators can be expected to work through before the Art Director decides upon the final product!

Patricia is the fifth and final speaker in Writer's Craft this year, and we look forward to welcoming these engaging, innovative presenters back again next year!

Land Acknowledgment

The Country Day School wishes to recognize and acknowledge the land on which the school operates. Our nearest Indigenous Nations are now the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and the Chippewas of Georgina Island. The Dish with One Spoon Wampum covenant is often cited as an example of the shared responsibility for caring for these lands among the Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples who would call these their traditional territories. CDS respects the relationship with these lands and recognizes that our connection to this land can be strengthened by our continued relationship with all First Nations, by acknowledging our shared responsibility to respect and care for the land and waters for future generations.
