CDS Alumnus Champions Diversity & Inclusion on Bay Street

Senior School students heard from a special alumni guest at Monday’s Assembly. Michael Cherny ’08 joined them virtually to talk about making the decision to live his truth and his long involvement in championing diversity and inclusion. He urged students to live authentically and to never apologize for who they are, that others in the CDS community will always be there to support them.
A sought-after speaker and thought leader in the diversity, equity and inclusion space, Michael will be meeting with our students in the Inclusivity Barbershop club this evening.

Thank you Michael for taking time out of your busy schedule as Senior Manager Lead for the Future of Trust at Deloitte Canada to share such an important message with our students! Read more about Michael’s journey in a recent Alumni Profile in The Link.

Land Acknowledgment

The Country Day School wishes to recognize and acknowledge the land on which the school operates. Our nearest Indigenous Nations are now the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and the Chippewas of Georgina Island. The Dish with One Spoon Wampum covenant is often cited as an example of the shared responsibility for caring for these lands among the Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples who would call these their traditional territories. CDS respects the relationship with these lands and recognizes that our connection to this land can be strengthened by our continued relationship with all First Nations, by acknowledging our shared responsibility to respect and care for the land and waters for future generations.
