Results of Grade 5/6 Public Speaking Competition

The Grade 5 and 6 Public Speaking finals were held on Monday, May 17th. This was the 13th annual competition held in our Junior School. Competitions were conducted using the Google Meet platform. Mr. Liggett, Mrs. Wildberger and Miss Belch judged the final competition.
The speakers and their speeches were as follows:
 
Grade Five Finalists
  1. Leah Grassa – Global Warming is Real
  2. Steven Carless – The Importance of Sleep
  3. Ginia Zhang – Being a Child is Better Than Being an Adult
  4. Emmy Endras – Every Kid Should Have a Pet
  5. Francesco Campoli – Video Games Can Negatively Impact you
  6. Krish Chopra – Tacos are the Best Meal
Grade Six Finalists
  1. Christian Ferro – Is Anyone Out There?
  2. Lanna Wappel – The Milky Way
  3. Andrea Mascan – The Silver Dragon
  4. Myles Brown – Black Holes
  5. Ella MacDonald – Life on Exoplanets
  6. Eliannah Litwin-Logan – Betelgeuse Star
While all 12 of these students presented their well-written speeches with poise and confidence, Steven Carless placed second and Krish Chopra placed first in Grade 5. Among the Grade 6 competitors, Myles Brown placed second and Eliannah Litwin-Logan placed first. Congratulations to all of our Junior School public speakers!
 
While there will be no CIS finals for our winners to compete in this spring, we were thrilled to be able to run this competition in the remote learning setting for our Junior School students.

Land Acknowledgment

The Country Day School wishes to recognize and acknowledge the land on which the school operates.
