Results of Last Weekend's Junior Virtual Debate Tournament

The Junior Virtual Debate Tournament held last Saturday comprised 32 teams from across Canada.

The two CDS teams consisted of: Grade 8 students, Kaitlyn Zhang and Audrey Jiang and Grade 9 students, Millie Steinmann and Diviya Amarnath.
There were four rounds of debate and the prepared resolution for the first two rounds was: This House believes that professional athletes should not be allowed to compete at the Olympic Games.

Both teams represented their school very well with the Grade 9 team finishing in 4th place overall and the Grade 8 team finishing in 10th place overall.

Individually, all competitors finished in the top half of the draw. Millie Steinmann finished in 4th place overall and Diviya Amarnath finished in 8th place overall out of 64 students.

Congratulations on a great performance!

Land Acknowledgment

The Country Day School wishes to recognize and acknowledge the land on which the school operates. Our nearest Indigenous Nations are now the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and the Chippewas of Georgina Island. The Dish with One Spoon Wampum covenant is often cited as an example of the shared responsibility for caring for these lands among the Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples who would call these their traditional territories. CDS respects the relationship with these lands and recognizes that our connection to this land can be strengthened by our continued relationship with all First Nations, by acknowledging our shared responsibility to respect and care for the land and waters for future generations.
