Grade 4 Sculpture
Grade 4 students have been busy in the studio this term learning about sculpture. For their assignment, the Grade 4s learned how to use paper in order to create insects, tree twigs, leaves and grass.
Grade 4 students have been busy in the studio this term learning about sculpture. For their assignment, the Grade 4s learned how to use paper in order to create insects, tree twigs, leaves and grass.
After this was completed, each student brought in a glass jar as the theme for the work was "Going on a Bug Hunt." Students then learned about composition, how to create a visually pleasing piece and carefully placed their paper sculptures into their glass jars to make it look as though they had gone on a bug hunt.
Their creations turned out beautifully and each student should be proud of their work.

Grade 6 Printmaking
During the winter term, Grade 6 students spent time making connections between their Poetry and Short Stories Unit in Language Arts and Visual Arts. Specifically, students were inspired by the poem "Jabberwocky" and for their art assignment, each student had to create and design original drawings based on their connection and understanding of the poem.
For their piece they etched their original drawing into styrofoam and used two different printing methods in order to create their finished pieces: a modified version of Lithography using marker and water and Relief Printing using ink and brayers.
The final Grade 6 prints were well executed and each student has much to celebrate.
