Middle School Team Building Field Trip

Yuling Qian & Lanna Wappel
Earlier this month, the Middle School students took a field trip to Cold Creek Conservation Area. We participated in a number of team-building activities, as well as Rock Climbing and High Ropes. The team-building activities included Low Ropes, the Nitro Swing,  Whale-Watching, Rope-Cuffs, the Giant Rubber Band, and a Marble Run. We had to work together, be engaged, and overcome challenges and obstacles. Working together meant we could get our activities completed faster, which led to us being able to participate in more activities.

Rock Climbing and High Ropes were mostly everyone’s favourites. These activities helped some students overcome their fear of heights, while others reached for further goals. Throughout all of that, everyone encouraged each other and had a great time. For High Ropes, each student that wished to participate got to choose one of four obstacles: the Catwalk, the Tightrope, Rickety Bridge, and Tarzan. Every student chose an obstacle that they thought they could succeed in. While climbing up, we felt the anticipation and nervousness but when coming down, we felt so accomplished. Rock climbing was also a great experience.

All in all, this was such a fun experience that included team-building, cooperation, and accomplishments. And the best part was, we returned to school with new friends!

Land Acknowledgment

CDS wishes to recognize and acknowledge the land on which the school operates. For thousands of years, these have been the traditional lands of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation. We also recognize the traditional territory of the Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabe and the Haudenosaunee peoples who also shared this land.  CDS respects the relationship with these lands and recognizes that our connection can be strengthened by our continued relationship with all First Nations, by acknowledging our shared responsibility to respect and care for these lands and waters for future generations.
