DECA Team Excels at Provincials & Earns Spot at Internationals

Earlier this week, 33 CDS DECA students were among the top regional competitors presenting case studies or prepared projects in the areas of business, finance, sports marketing, hospitality and tourism, entrepreneurship and much more. In total, 5729 student competitors from 230 schools across Ontario converged at the Sheraton in Toronto where they challenged one another in a wide range of business disciplines for a chance to earn a spot to the International Career Development Conference in Orlando, FL in April.
Students took part in individual series events, team decision making events, professional selling and consulting events, and integrated marketing campaign events. Some presented written projects, while others presented orals or took part in a Leadership Development Academy. In between the intense preparations required for each presentation, there were team-building dinners, scavenger hunts planned throughout the hotel, and escape room activities.

Only the top two teams in each event qualify to earn a spot at Internationals, and the Grade 10 team of Lily Chen, Alyssa Gesualdo and Olivia Budweth did just that winning first place in the Project Management Community Giving (PMCG) category for their Spreading Warmth Clothing Drive Project for Afghan Refugees

Other CDS teams who placed in the Top 10 include:

*Grade 11 team of Alex Wang and Stone Li – in Business, Law and Ethics Team Decision Making event

*Grade 9 team of Patrick Bran and Geoffrey Stefanov – were finalists for Case Study competition

*Grade 10 student Angelina Cai - received top marks in Integrated Marketing Campaign Event

*Grade 9 student Audrey Jiang - in Entrepreneurship International Business

*Grade 10 student Andrii Bessarab – in Finance Operations Research

Congratulations to all of our CDS DECA competitors and their coach, Ms. Aldoroty, on a fantastic performance at Provincials!

Land Acknowledgment

The Country Day School wishes to recognize and acknowledge the land on which the school operates. Our nearest Indigenous Nations are now the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and the Chippewas of Georgina Island. The Dish with One Spoon Wampum covenant is often cited as an example of the shared responsibility for caring for these lands among the Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples who would call these their traditional territories. CDS respects the relationship with these lands and recognizes that our connection to this land can be strengthened by our continued relationship with all First Nations, by acknowledging our shared responsibility to respect and care for the land and waters for future generations.
