CDS Shines at Nat'l Speech & Debate Championships

The National Junior High Public Speaking and Debating Tournament took place on May 5th and 6th at The Mulgrave School in West Vancouver. Ananya Kapur ‘26 and Audrey Jiang ‘26 participated in preliminary asynchronous rounds prior to the tournament for Persuasive Speaking and Interpretive Reading, while Parliamentary Debate and Impromptu Speaking preliminary rounds were held live.
Audrey made the finals for Impromptu Speaking and Persuasive Speaking, where she placed 3rd for her Persuasive Speech. Ananya made finals for the Persuasive Speaking category and placed in the top 13 overall and was 2nd amongst the Ontario participants. Ananya's speech was on Hate Crimes in Canada and Audrey's was on Homelessness in Vancouver Due to the Global Economic Crisis.
