2023 Gauss Mathematics Contest

On May 17th, all of the Middle School students at CDS had the opportunity to participate in this year’s Gauss Mathematics contest. The contest consists of 25 multiple choice questions with topics chosen from the Grade 7 and Grade 8 mathematics curriculum.
Prior to May 17, some Middle School classes received tips and strategy advice in preparing for the contest from several experienced contest-writers in the Senior School. A special thanks to Stone Li, Carolyn Du, Diviya Amarnath, Olivia Budweth, and Lily Chen for taking time out of their busy schedules to facilitate the Middle School students’ success.

Certificates of Distinction were earned by those who achieved in the top 25% of participants at CDS.

On the Grade 8 Gauss, the average score at CDS was 93 out of 150.

Congratulations to all students who participated in this annual enrichment opportunity. A sincere thank you also goes out to both Mr. Bell and Ms. Csibi who supported the students in preparing for the contest, and to Ms. Barbanchon, Mr. DeSanctis, Ms. Langston, Mr. Fell, Ms. Tsiolis, Ms. Winterink, and Mr. Vien who supervised while students were writing this year.
