John Liggett holds an Honours B.A. and a B.Ed. from York University, and began his teaching career in the 1990s with the Toronto District School Board. After completing his MBA from the Schulich School of Business, and then working in the private sector for a few years, he moved into the independent school system, serving St. Clement’s School in Toronto and St. Michaels University School (SMUS) in Victoria, B.C.
John was appointed Head of The Country Day School in 2011. He believes that great schools exist, not only by maintaining strong academic standards, but also by broadening the sights of education, by meeting the needs of a variety of learners, and by engaging the whole student. John and his wife, Teresa, are proud CDS parents of Joshua (Class of 2015) and Aiden (Grade 10).
