The Arts at CDS

Our school has a wonderfully dynamic arts program – from drama to music to the visual arts – our students are afforded wonderful opportunities to grow and develop and discover their passion.
J.P. Saxe, a CDS graduate of the Class of 2011, opened his Who Will You Be? lyrics with:

I’m looking for something to look for
I’m searching for someone to be
I’m wishing on anything to show me
There’s places to dream outside my sleep

For many of our students, at some point in their progression through the various stages of their development, just like for J.P., this searching for something finds a fruitful answer in some element of the arts. We are constantly looking for ways to support our programs at CDS to ensure that if their particular passion resides within the arts, that we will be able to help fuel that passion. We have recently re-introduced the “artist of the week” feature (presently there is an athlete of the week) on our website in order to showcase and encourage a passionate pursuit of the arts at CDS.

We are very proud of the many and varied talents of our wonderful students!

Land Acknowledgment

The Country Day School wishes to recognize and acknowledge the land on which the school operates. Our nearest Indigenous Nations are now the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and the Chippewas of Georgina Island. The Dish with One Spoon Wampum covenant is often cited as an example of the shared responsibility for caring for these lands among the Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples who would call these their traditional territories. CDS respects the relationship with these lands and recognizes that our connection to this land can be strengthened by our continued relationship with all First Nations, by acknowledging our shared responsibility to respect and care for the land and waters for future generations.
