Domo Arigato Mr. Roboto!

Yes, I am showing my age and the students won’t have a clue what I am talking about, nevertheless I was thinking about the School’s increasing presence on the Robotics front and the song popped into my head!
Earlier this school year, we responded to an increased interest on the part of our students in competing at increasingly complex and competitive Robotics competitions. Mr. Wappel and Mr. Jugoon are being kept busy by an aggressive slate of competitions and build orders for a series of competitions involving both our Middle and Senior School students.

Our student leaders Bryan Leary and Nicky Mantella have the CDS robotics team building a very sophisticated and impressive robot that is anything but a “toy.” In fact, even though the robot is still in the early stages of the build, it is already something I wouldn’t want to get in the way of! Everyone is excited to see how our students will do at the First LEGO Robotics competition coming up in a few weeks – good luck team CDS!

Land Acknowledgment

The Country Day School wishes to recognize and acknowledge the land on which the school operates. Our nearest Indigenous Nations are now the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and the Chippewas of Georgina Island. The Dish with One Spoon Wampum covenant is often cited as an example of the shared responsibility for caring for these lands among the Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples who would call these their traditional territories. CDS respects the relationship with these lands and recognizes that our connection to this land can be strengthened by our continued relationship with all First Nations, by acknowledging our shared responsibility to respect and care for the land and waters for future generations.
