Building Series #7: Focus is on Details

If you’ve ever built a house or been involved in a major renovation project, you will appreciate the meaning of the saying, “the devil is in the details!” With the majority of the main structural elements in place for the past month or so, construction activity on our Dining Hall and Senior School has turned to the myriad of small to medium-sized decisions that seem to pop up around every corner.
Thankfully, we have a capable team attending to all aspects of the project, both large and small. Our current projections still predict the Dining Hall portion of the build to be ready for our return to school in the fall, but of course, there is still a lot of those details to be worked out! Please remember that the School will stay in communication with you via email throughout the summer to keep you informed of our progress. Also, if your child has a food allergy, more detailed information will follow in the summer mailing which will be sent out the last week of July. We will also include more information for those with allergy concerns in the final installment of The Backpack which will be emailed to you June 25.

A tremendous thanks is due our entire community for your generous support and patience as we carry out this transformative project at The Country Day School!

Land Acknowledgment

The Country Day School wishes to recognize and acknowledge the land on which the school operates. Our nearest Indigenous Nations are now the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and the Chippewas of Georgina Island. The Dish with One Spoon Wampum covenant is often cited as an example of the shared responsibility for caring for these lands among the Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples who would call these their traditional territories. CDS respects the relationship with these lands and recognizes that our connection to this land can be strengthened by our continued relationship with all First Nations, by acknowledging our shared responsibility to respect and care for the land and waters for future generations.
