Thank you for your interest in volunteering at The Country Day School!
As a member of the Canadian Accredited Independent Schools (CA+IS), The Country Day School undergoes a rigorous set of external inspections in order to ensure we meet or exceed established standards across a wide variety of metrics.
As a result of these routine assessments of our policies, the need for a
volunteer policy was identified.
Most of our volunteers do not have regular or direct one-on-one contact with students. We refer to these volunteers as Level 1 volunteers. Prior to the start of their first volunteer activity, they are required to complete a
Volunteer Offence Declaration Form, available for download below. For subsequent school years, the Form is completed annually, at the beginning of the school year.
For volunteer situations which might involve regular and/or direct contact with students which the Head deems to have limited teacher supervision parameters (eg. one-on-one), a Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) is required. We refer to this as a Level 2 activity and some examples are working in the General Store and assisting with coaching and drama productions. Please see the Process for Level 2 Volunteers. (Each region handles this process differently, so please refer to your relevant region PVSC available for download below.) A PVSC is required prior to the start of the volunteer activity. For subsequent school years, Level 2 volunteers need only complete the Volunteer Offence Declaration Form on an annual basis, at the beginning of the school year.
