Celebrating Auction Success

In June 2023, our community came together to Celebrate 50 Years of CDS at the 47th Annual Dinner and Auction!  Fifty years is a huge milestone for the school and what better way to finish off the celebration year than a party!

From the start, the evening was buzzing with electric energy, with guests ready to celebrate and support CDS!  Along with the silent and live auctions, the night featured live performances, a fun photo booth, heartfelt words from our Event Chair, Sarah Powell ‘96, a wonderful video compilation of the year in review, a raffle draw for a diamond tennis bracelet, and so much more.

A touching moment occurred during the evening when Head of School, John Liggett, gave tribute to some of our founding families in attendance including;  Ed Eberts, Bob Sillcox, Michael Burns (sister Joan Addison stepping in to represent her brother Michael) and Jennifer Pratt Peters (daughter of our first Head of School John Pratt). It is humbling to see how far CDS has come in 50 years, and this tribute paints a picture of the path we have forged. We encourage you to take the time to read this tribute.

They say it takes a village to raise a child, well on Friday night CDS came together as a village and raised $280,000 for our children! There are no other words than WOW!  After a three year hiatus, we had one of the highest guest counts in history and the funds raised this year set an all time record - the highest amount ever raised in 47 auctions!

Each year the funds raised from Auction are directed toward a special project at the school. This year the funds raised will go towards the Building Magic Campaign, for the much anticipated new Junior School refurbishment and wing opening in September.

A very special thank you to all of our sponsors and donors for making the night such a huge success. Without your commitment to sponsoring, donating an item or cash gifts this would not have been possible. For those in attendance - your energy and commitment to the school was heartfelt and showed.

A shout out to our amazing Auction Planning Team, who worked countless hours over the past six months to bring the evening to fruition. The volunteers who assisted with prep prior to the event, and event day set up, your part did not go unnoticed. Many hands do indeed make light work!

As we bring this year to a close I would like to share SAVE THE DATE for our 48th Annual Auction is Friday, May 31, 2024. You don't want to miss what we will do next year!!
