  • The Building Magic Campaign for Junior School is on Target for June Groundbreaking

We want to take this opportunity to update you on the campaign to build a new wing for the Junior School. Despite the difficult and disruptive events we have all experienced and which continue to be part of our lives almost a year later, the Building Magic Campaign which aims to raise $7 million to build a new wing for the Junior School is proceeding and exceeding our expectations.

When we officially launched the campaign in September 2019, we had already raised $3.5 million, a full 50% of our goal primarily due to the generosity of our lead donor Michael Burns, and many other families who have stepped forward to support the project. Despite all of the uncertainty and disruption since then, our community has continued to support the School and the Building Magic Campaign. Today, the campaign has reached 80% of our goal at over $5.5 million of our $7 million goal. We are incredibly grateful for the support of our community. It is a testament to how passionate you are for this project to be completed.

That said, the pandemic did force us to re-evaluate the timing for the project and ultimately to postpone groundbreaking by one year. With your continued support, we are once again in a position to move this spectacular project forward and confirm our intention to officially break ground in June of 2021.

The quiet phase of this campaign has been underway for sometime, and CDS has already raised 50% of its goal - $3.5 million. Of particular note is a transformational gift of $1 million from one of CDS’s original parents – Michael Burns.
