The Building Magic Campaign for Junior School is on Target for June Groundbreaking

We want to take this opportunity to update you on the campaign to build a new wing for the Junior School. Despite the difficult and disruptive events we have all experienced and which continue to be part of our lives almost a year later, the Building Magic Campaign which aims to raise $7 million to build a new wing for the Junior School is proceeding and exceeding our expectations.

When we officially launched the campaign in September 2019, we had already raised $3.5 million, a full 50% of our goal primarily due to the generosity of our lead donor Michael Burns, and many other families who have stepped forward to support the project. Despite all of the uncertainty and disruption since then, our community has continued to support the School and the Building Magic Campaign. Today, the campaign has reached 80% of our goal at over $5.5 million of our $7 million goal. We are incredibly grateful for the support of our community. It is a testament to how passionate you are for this project to be completed.

That said, the pandemic did force us to re-evaluate the timing for the project and ultimately to postpone groundbreaking by one year. With your continued support, we are once again in a position to move this spectacular project forward and confirm our intention to officially break ground in June of 2021.
For those who may have forgotten, the new wing builds on the magic found in our Junior School by creating a new welcoming and spacious entranceway and offices. It includes an impressive new Hall that showcases and surrounds our original one-room Eversley Schoolhouse, refreshing the heart of our original school as it continues to serve as our JS Library. The new wing will also provide new classrooms to replace our existing portables and provide a new home for our Outdoor Education classroom. The addition realigns the School for better student flow and movement throughout. Finally, once the new wing is completed, our playground and playfield will be rebuilt entirely and realigned to move the field closer to the School.

Much work remains and much uncertainty too. By breaking ground this June, we plan to be in a position to complete this project with an anticipated opening in the fall of 2022, now fortuitously coinciding with the 50th anniversary of the establishment of The Country Day School.

We will keep you apprised of the progress of this exciting addition to our school and encourage you to reach out to me if you wish to support the Building Magic Campaign. Thank you for your ongoing support.

Sincerely,

Brent Johnston
