MS/SS Fall Production 2021

Greta lives in the mining town of Sunnyside and LOVES it! The grass is always brown, the sky is always grey and glowing fish float on the surface of the lake where you can always see them. All is perfectly joyous until a shattering event occurs that challenges everything Greta believes and loves about her town and the world around her. With the help of an orphaned polar bear with a deep fear of open water, a sea turtle with a dangerous attraction to plastic bling, and a koala with an anger management problem, Greta sets out on a quest to Stockholm, Sweden to recruit another famous Greta to help save her beloved town and the planet.

This world premiere, original musical by Mr. Zero, Mr. Garbe and CDS alumna Julia Garbe ’17, is full of zany characters just waiting to be brought to life for the very first time by YOU. It promises to be a hilarious, memorable and moving journey that will challenge cast, crew and audience members alike to consider the positive steps they can take to help tackle the climate crisis

Extra special thanks goes to our incredible cast, crew and musicians who helped bring our first original full-length musical to vibrant life. You were and are absolutely BRILLIANT!

This production is dedicated to the memory of our cherished teacher, colleague and friend, Ms. Collins. She lives in our hearts and continues to inspire us to love and care for the planet each day.

LAND ACKNOWLEDGMENT

The Country Day School wishes to recognize and acknowledge the land on which the school operates. Our nearest Indigenous Nations are now the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and the Chippewas of Georgina Island. The Dish with One Spoon Wampum covenant is often cited as an example of the shared responsibility for caring for these lands among the Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples who would call these their traditional territories. CDS respects the relationship with these lands and recognizes that our connection to this land can be strengthened by our continued relationship with all First Nations, by acknowledging our shared responsibility to respect and care for the land and waters for future generations.
