Our Grads Are Going Places!

While they will always be Cyclones, our grads are about to become Bulldogs, Trojans, Varsity Blues, Mounties and Mustangs, to name just a few, at Universities across Canada and beyond.
It was a banner year with 100% of our students earning university offers many with substantial scholarships. For the 3rd year running, Queen’s University has captured the hearts and minds of the largest contingent of our students with 17 attendees. The University of Toronto and Western University are charging fast with 12 and 11 registrants respectively. The class of 2015 has Canada covered with the University of British Columbia and Acadia in Nova Scotia stretching our representation from coast-to-coast. In addition to these two provinces and Ontario, we have grads headed to New Brunswick, Quebec and Saskatchewan. Not to be left out there are students heading south of the border (Dartmouth, Georgia, USC) and across the pond (Kings College London, Bristol, Newcastle) joining recent grads and alumni studying and working around the world.

In yet another example of the balance that we strive for here at CDS, there is a broad range of academic and professional disciplines being pursued by this group. Science is leading the way with 40% of our 91 grads pursuing Life Science, Physical Science or Engineering. The Social Sciences and Humanities are next at 36% and Business at 17%. Some unique disciplines include Graphic Communication Management, Environment and Urban Sustainability and Culinary Studies at the renowned George Brown College Chef School. Wherever they are headed we will miss them and know that they will make us proud.

Land Acknowledgment

The Country Day School wishes to recognize and acknowledge the land on which the school operates. Our nearest Indigenous Nations are now the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and the Chippewas of Georgina Island. The Dish with One Spoon Wampum covenant is often cited as an example of the shared responsibility for caring for these lands among the Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples who would call these their traditional territories. CDS respects the relationship with these lands and recognizes that our connection to this land can be strengthened by our continued relationship with all First Nations, by acknowledging our shared responsibility to respect and care for the land and waters for future generations.
