Announcing the New Alumni Legacy Fund

On November 1, as part of our November Giving month, we launched a new initiative aimed at creating an Alumni Legacy Fund to support financial aid for children of our Alumni. We've termed it the Alumni Challenge.

During the month of November, we have challenged our Alumni to donate their 1972 in celebration of our founding year. Make it $19.72, $197.2 or even $1972 - every gift helps support children of our Alumni. It’s an entirely electronic campaign with heavy emphasis on email and social media platforms (Facebook and Twitter primarily).

This exciting campaign has already garnered 100% support from our Alumni Executive who overwhelmingly supported the initiative when it was introduced to them. This is something our Alumni have been waiting for.

We are very pleased to have Steve McCutcheon, (one of our Alumni Faculty Liaisons, along with Mark Burleigh and Chris Edwards) lend his voice to the video produced in house to launch this challenge. You can watch the video here!

If you want to learn more about the program, stroll down memory lane by browsing a number of historic picture galleries or watch our progress here: www.cds.on.ca/alumnichallenge.

Land Acknowledgment

The Country Day School wishes to recognize and acknowledge the land on which the school operates. Our nearest Indigenous Nations are now the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and the Chippewas of Georgina Island. The Dish with One Spoon Wampum covenant is often cited as an example of the shared responsibility for caring for these lands among the Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples who would call these their traditional territories. CDS respects the relationship with these lands and recognizes that our connection to this land can be strengthened by our continued relationship with all First Nations, by acknowledging our shared responsibility to respect and care for the land and waters for future generations.
