Mayor Pellegrini Visits Grade 5

Daniele Paolicelli, Grade 5M
On Thursday November 17th, 2016, Mayor Steve Pellegrini came to the Grade 5 classroom to talk to us about what it is to be like in municipal office, and to teach us about the things he does in office.
He talked about how he always puts people first in King Township. And he also said that if you have the chance to vote you should probably vote because only about 30% of eligible people vote in elections. He wore his Chain of Office and he allowed many of us to try it on. He's a big part of King Township and the Grade 5s loved it.

Land Acknowledgment

The Country Day School wishes to recognize and acknowledge the land on which the school operates. Our nearest Indigenous Nations are now the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and the Chippewas of Georgina Island. The Dish with One Spoon Wampum covenant is often cited as an example of the shared responsibility for caring for these lands among the Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples who would call these their traditional territories. CDS respects the relationship with these lands and recognizes that our connection to this land can be strengthened by our continued relationship with all First Nations, by acknowledging our shared responsibility to respect and care for the land and waters for future generations.
