A Magical Opening to our Rejuvenated Junior School

The look of wonderment and amazement on the faces of Junior School parents and returning students as they arrived through the new entrance yesterday and witnessed the magic within exceeded our wildest dreams! It was never supposed to take as long as it did, but boy oh boy was it worth the wait.
The new addition has added eight new classrooms, with dedicated space for our younger learners. Walking past the new Before & After-Care room and JK/SK and Grade 1 & 2 classrooms, families witnessed the transformation of our humble entranceway into a magnificent new space – the Burns Family Hall – where it all began 51 years ago. Our magical library, the 1883 Eversley one-room schoolhouse, is now fully encased and preserved for years to come. Beyond that, the Ghezzi Family Walkway leads to the Grade 4, 5 and 6 classrooms and the Middle School - allowing a straight view from one school to another and overlooks a new playground and playing field. The new space also includes new homes for our Outdoor Education program and dedicated classrooms for Junior and Primary French language studies.

The success of the Building Magic campaign would not have been possible without the participation and generosity of our entire community. Thank you to all those who contributed to this historic project. We look forward to showing you around in the very near future.

Land Acknowledgment

The Country Day School wishes to recognize and acknowledge the land on which the school operates. Our nearest Indigenous Nations are now the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and the Chippewas of Georgina Island. The Dish with One Spoon Wampum covenant is often cited as an example of the shared responsibility for caring for these lands among the Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples who would call these their traditional territories. CDS respects the relationship with these lands and recognizes that our connection to this land can be strengthened by our continued relationship with all First Nations, by acknowledging our shared responsibility to respect and care for the land and waters for future generations.
