Giving in the Senior School this Season

This holiday season, the Senior School will be giving to two wonderful organizations: Holiday Heroes and A Senior’s Wish. The deadline to bring in items is Wednesday, December 13th.
Holiday Heroes supports thousands of individuals and families in need right here in York Region. This toy drive is put on by the York Regional Police in partnership with the Salvation Army and Victims Services of York Region.

A Senior’s Wish is an organization that has a goal of alleviating the loneliness and isolation that seniors may experience. The holidays can be a difficult time for those who may spend them on their own in retirement homes, long term care homes or hospitals. Our hope is that these individuals can feel special this season.

Each grade is responsible for something different to help make the holiday season brighter for these individuals. Here is what each grade is responsible for:

Grade 9: Items for Holiday Heroes - Babies / toddlers (toys, developmental games, books, etc.)

Grade 10: Items for Holiday Heroes - Pre-teens (gift cards, clothing, accessories, arts and crafts, books, etc.)

Grade 11 & 12: Items for Senior’s Wish (Blankets, slippers, sudokus, candles, refillable water bottles, mugs, etc.)

Items brought in for donation can be placed in designated boxes in students' homeroom classrooms. Also, we kindly ask that any gift card donations be handed in to the Senior School office.

Thank you in advance for your support with our holiday giving drive. We, in the Senior School, are excited to support these fantastic organizations and make a difference in our community!

Land Acknowledgment

The Country Day School wishes to recognize and acknowledge the land on which the school operates. Our nearest Indigenous Nations are now the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and the Chippewas of Georgina Island. The Dish with One Spoon Wampum covenant is often cited as an example of the shared responsibility for caring for these lands among the Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples who would call these their traditional territories. CDS respects the relationship with these lands and recognizes that our connection to this land can be strengthened by our continued relationship with all First Nations, by acknowledging our shared responsibility to respect and care for the land and waters for future generations.
